The NHL in the eyes of a hockey elitist.
Tuesday, July 18, 2006
On a morning whim, I decided to make up a map if the NHL was run by one of those typical "Southern Hockey Sucks!" types of fans. This was after some guy at the LGW.com forums boasted about how Northern and Canadian teams sell out no matter how bad their teams are, while all Southern fans are just fairweather. I got to tell you, I don't get it. Is there some sort of unseen border that apparently once you cross it you'll never find a hockey fan on the other side?
Eh. Either way, I had fun with this. One thousand hours in MS-Paint, man. True story.

I'd say it's about accurate, right? Though I'm sure people would prefer some traditional names for the divisions and conferences, too (which I'd actually like).
When the Canucks were in the middle of the Mike Keenan Era (error), GM Place was anything but close to a sell-out. I was given free tickets and had a whole upper row to myself at a few games. Toronto sells out no matter what, but other Canadian fans are just as picky as 'southerners', the main difference that our TV Ratings are just so much higher
