Taking a reprieve from all the Blue Jackets' critiquing, I just would like to mention how cool it is that in Patrick Lalime's first start in what seems like an eternity (and in fact his first start this season), he manages to shut out the Vancouver Canucks and lead the Blackhawks to a 3-0 victory.
Now Blue Jackets' love and Blackhawks' hate aside, I remember loving Lalime when I was younger and in high school all because of his Marvin the Martian helmet, which the world was first introduced to during his days as the backstop of the Ottawa Senators. Yeah, remember the days when he was supposed to be the future of that franchise, but left during the lockout for supposedly better pay with the St. Louis Blues? Only to have the implosion of a lifetime.
Either way, congratulations for a good start to your NHL return, Lalime! Just don't play this well if you happen to be the netminder against the Blue Jackets this Sunday! In honor of his feat, here's a short clip of Marvin the Martian:
